Resort Headquarters Office

For this project, I designed a corporate headquarters for Aman Resorts, a luxury hospitality brand known for its commitment to cultural conservation, sustainability, and serene experiences. The design concept centers on Cultural Conservation—preserving and celebrating local heritage through architecture, materials, and craftsmanship. Inspired by Aman’s values, the headquarters blends traditional design elements with modern functionality, using locally sourced materials, artisanal furniture, and regional motifs. The space is envisioned as a cultural sanctuary that reflects Aman’s global presence while honoring the identity of the communities it touches.

Cafe

For this project, we conducted field studies at the Round Corner Cantina in Lawrenceville to understand the space and its potential for transformation into a cafe that aligns with the client’s vision. The design of the new coffee shop and bakery, Flour Power, captures an eclectic, vibrant atmosphere with a blend of mismatched decor, vintage touches, and colorful accents. The goal was to create a welcoming environment for the community, offering fresh pastries, specialty coffee, and inclusive food options like vegan and gluten-free choices. The transformation incorporates a cozy indoor space and an inviting outdoor patio with greenery and string lights, perfect for relaxing. The cafe caters to a diverse clientele, including young professionals, families, and creators, and provides a community hub for connection, creativity, and great food.

Resort Project

For this project, I selected Sedona, Arizona, as the location for a resort inspired by the area’s renowned four vortexes. These vortexes are unique locations around Sedona known for their strong energy fields, which are believed to promote healing, inspiration, and spiritual growth. The four vortexes—Airport Mesa, Cathedral Rock, Bell Rock, and Boynton Canyon—are famous for their natural beauty and mystical properties. The resort design draws on the energy and magic of these vortexes to create a space that fully immerses guests in the environment, offering a transformative experience for the body, mind, and soul. The design will incorporate natural elements, color, patterns, lighting, and textures to make guests feel as though they are part of the Red Rock landscape, encouraging them to explore the surrounding beauty and connect with the serenity of Sedona.

KITCHEN & BATH

NKBA Kitchen Renovation

This NKBA kitchen renovation project is for a client named Lydia Bachman, a retired anthropology professor, who is updating her 1895 bungalow in Colorado Springs. The goal is to transform her historic kitchen into an open, welcoming space that blends rustic charm with modern functionality. The design features a built-in herb garden, reclaimed wood elements, stone accents, and energy-efficient appliances. A key aspect of the renovation is preserving the home’s character by keeping the original hutch, while introducing quartz countertops and larger windows to brighten the space. The result will be a thoughtfully curated kitchen that balances sustainability, heritage, and Lydia’s personal style—creating a warm, functional heart for her home.

LIVE/WORK

Shipping Container

Patterns of the Bayou is a LEED-ND live/work project designed within a repurposed shipping container, blending sustainable design with cultural preservation. The clients, members of the Chitimacha Tribe of Louisiana—renowned for their intricate basket weaving—will use this space as both a home and a place to create and sell their handcrafted items. The design concept centers on Cultural Conservation, using the natural beauty of the Louisiana Bayou and the traditional geometric patterns of Chitimacha baskets as inspiration. Earthy tones like rich browns, forest greens, deep blues, and soft beiges reflect the surrounding environment, while large windows maximize natural light and create a seamless connection to the outdoors. Inside, woven textures mimic the feel of traditional baskets, while flowing fabrics and materials represent the movement of water and the organic forms of the bayou. This space honors the tribe’s heritage while supporting modern, sustainable living and entrepreneurship.
